On a PC connected directly to a router with a very fast connection (right now it is running at 912.66 to 924.01 Mbps), the delay is much less than when using mobile phone via wi-fi to that same router and very fast internet connection... in which case the delay for loading a page is often upards of 1-3 seconds or so.
Yep! I'm on an insanely fast Starlink connection and photos load like I'm on dialup.

Hmm. And I thought that the problem was my aging PC, which at times runs more slowly than I remember. I know, failing memory (mine).

Seriously, though the site responds more slowly than it did before the upgrade. Same PC, router, and claimed download speed.

It might not be your memory that's the problem. The last PC I had started slowing down and it appears to have been self-throttling, probably in addition to a bunch of "junk" but I try to rigourously monitor/control that kind of stuff. It ended up being primarily a large amount of dust coating the innards and making ot run hotter, so the PC took it upon itself to slow down in an attempt to keep cool. A good internal dusting restored most of the speed loss. Ultimately the PC was replaced but mostly because of the demise of Windows 8.
