    KHB Photografix?

    Hi, All.

Has anyone heard from KHB Photografix in Canada lately?

A pending order has been sitting for quite a while and they seem to have stopped responding to email.

I hope all is well with them. They provide some rather unique products and services.

    Thanks. -Pat

I spoke with Kevin. They are just very backed up. But all is fine.

    Thanks.

    Re: KHB Photografix?

I had a VERY, VERY bad experience with KHB around 10 years ago...

I sent there an enlarger to fix. First, they told me 2 weeks. I waited about a month and called back. They hadn't touch it yet, telling me they were very busy with schools asking to tune up their equipment. I waited another 3 weeks. I called back and they told me it wasn't ready yet.

I took a 6 hours trip to take it back.

Also, I've been told by a friend that a friend of his sent something for repair. After 4 weeks without any news, he called them and they told him they sold the part and couldn't take it back to send it to the original owner.

I never did business with them since.

    Re: KHB Photografix?

In the 1940s and 50s I was growing up a few miles from a town with a population of at least a hundred people. We had a garage who's owner and his son fixed whatever came their way: motor vehicles, farm equipment, and eventually television. During WWII, war production preempted much that we had depended on. When an non-working item came their way, we figured out how it should work, why it didn't, and how to fix it. Many other small towns had similar shops. A few farmers also could do much the same. I could usually fix the small things like clocks, radios, and guns. Perhaps many people today look back and think we were primitive, even living and working without electricity until after WWII. Back then those who lacked the knack of coping with emerging technology found enough to keep themselves quite productive, and left more complex tasks to whoever could handle them. Cooperation got us through hard times. Tomorrow's hard times, even with today's technology, might eclipse the problems I saw many decades ago. One bulwark against that is cooperation with neighbors, with countries, and even with the other political party. What do we have to lose except our greedy pride, and good riddance to that!
