    Wollensak 15" Tele Raptor Questions

I have a nice Wollensak 15" Tele Raptor.

At the least, I'd like to move it to a Toyo board. Hopefully, I can find my lens wrench....

But....I have a Alphax No. 4 shutter, which from a 240mm Raptar, and the Tele cells should fit. The cells, though, are reluctant to unscrew from the barrel, and I don't want to damage anything. Are there set screws that need to be removed? Any tips?

There is a set screw that needs to be removed.
The cells will fit a #4 Alphax or Betax shutter.
Using the front group only makes a fun Soft Focus lens, ~180mm f/2.8.

Thanks, Dugan. This is it, right?

Is there one hidden by the rear mounting ring for the back cell?

Thanks to Dugan, I had success removing the front cell, and it does fit the Alphax shutter. Progress!

That's quite a nice lens- we had one in the cabinet when I worked for Kodak. Only used it a few times in 25 years, but it performed well when we needed it.

I'm pretty sure there's a set screw for the back also.
It might be hidden under the retaining ring.
I'm at work right now, not near my gear, so going by memory.

That's great to hear, Mark. Thanks! Dugan, yeah, I think you're right. As soon as I can find my lens wrench, I'll find out for sure....

I removed the retaining ring, and there was a set screw in the thread. I took that out, but the rear cell is still being stubborn.

Try wrapping a wide rubber band around the rear cell for more grip.

Thanks, I'll give that a try tomorrow.
