    Nice scene Simon.

A rescan/repost to add a larger version of these MT Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest trees to my stream. I was at this very spot not long ago and these trees are gone. They were cut down and just their stumps remaining. :-(

Even better than the first version of this scene. I might have passed up the opportunity to shoot this because of the difficulty of holding shadow detail when shooting into that light, especially with my old lenses without modern coating.

I shared this image a few times, but it is an example of what can happen when one points the camera towards the sun...it can work...

The back-lit conifers make such wonderful shapes!

That’s really beautiful. Nice job retaining detail in trunks and foreground without blowing out the background.

Thanks Ben. The exposure favored the shadows a lot. I initially placed the middle grey exposure on the ground moss that is in the shadows, looked around at the scene with the spot meter, tweaked that placement some, over exposed and under developed. This figital workflow that gets a negative on the computer screen affords a person with fine control over the contrast curve allowing you to hold down those highlights to some degree.
