In the late 70's, my father engineered a water panel for me using an ITT Lawler tempering system sold by Zone VI. It worked fine for years, but finally failed long after Zone VI had ceased...
If it's from Mortensen, it must be good. He realized that the biggest secret is that there is no secret. He open-sourced his techniques and never acted the Guru, selling seekers their own personal...
That's an excellent choice. I have used them for years. I had the early Model IIIs and they developed cracks in the plastic bodies. I replaced them with the all metal Model IIs and have been very...
I have been a Robos user for years and like them very much. The story is that Sinar sued for patent infringement after the first run of 4X5 cameras and the 5X7 and 8X10 components were never...
Here is my Toyo Field 4 3/4x6 1/2. I use Speed and Crown Graphics and Pacemaker adapter boards on Toyo Views and Calumet C2. I modified the back to accept a late production Toyo Focus panel and...
Just call Dynatect and ask customer service to talk to someone about camera bellows. They may have a CAD file for that bellows.
There are no lighter options I know of that fold compactly, have full front movements, rear focus and a front standard robust enough to support large heavy lenses. Adapters are readily available to...
The best replacement bellows I have found are the U.S.-made all synthetic and waterproof products from Dynatect or Nabel (you will pay more for the same thing).
Reading over the posts, I see many members have converted cameras to enlargers. Some may have realized, as I did, that having an enlarger that can focus from the negative stage rather than, or as...
I worked for a long time with just two 8X10 lenses, a 250mm f6.7 Fujinon W in Copal and a 355mm f9 Schneider G-Claron, and made many prints enlarging back through both of them.
When a 4X5 Beseler M type enlarger is converted to 8X10, it requires spacer to bring the head, and the lens, further out over the baseboard so larger prints can be made. This might be required on a...
My first 8X10 enlarger was a monorail camera a B&J. I lived in a converted textile mill building that had a floor to ceiling structural steel rod about 1.25" in diameter and accurately perpendicular...
Old press photographers knew how to set up the rangefinder Graphics for one, accurately framed with the open frame finder, head and shoulders or tight horizontal for two.

I just ran the tests described below. This time on HP5+ 120 film developed in Ilfotech HC 1:31 at 68*. The film was exposed on a bright clear day. I only tested down to 1/125 sec. , hand held in a...
Fast, wide, sharp...Pick any two.
When I mount and frame exhibition prints, I use the Golden Mean ratio to determine the width of the borders. Bottom border is 1.6 times the width of the top and sides. I determine these dimensions...
I found this image I made of model Tonya with the 360mm 5.6 TeleXenar on the 4X5 Super D. Lens was wide open in a barrel mount. I see from the negative that I used a Graphmatic Magazine. I had...
The only way I have found that an incremental test strip can provide accurate information is with a continuous exposure, the card being moved every set increment with an audible timer.
No other...
Surplus Shed has bags of tiny optical screws, most from US-made Wollensak and other optics.

I'll second that MT5 is the best if you can get it. Buy it cheap and stack it deep. If the print is to be dry mounted, only MT5 can suffice. "Archival" tissues cannot match it's holding ability.
I second that. Ilfotec HC is a clone of the old HC110. Use the same times and dilutions you used with that on the old TXPProf 320 but now with Ilforfd HP5+ and you are good to go.
That is not a Toyo rail clamp pictured for Toyo 810 G or GII. The OEM factory clamp for the Toyo 8X10 monorails is only slightly more robust than the 4X5 G rail clamp. Definitely l
not suitable for...
Masterful work! You have been an inspiration to all on this forum.
Just buy Ilfotec HC and use the same times and dilutions as for the original HC110. Not only will your results be the same, but you will gain some insight into how the branding game is played.
In 1974, Damien Waring explained all this to me in Honolulu when I began to assist him and his partner Lurline. He said "When they ask what I will do for $100, I tell them I'll polish my lens." It...

The Struggle of Life goes on. For every move there is a counter, for every hold an escape.
I use Rosco yellow and magenta gels cut to 11.75"X11.75" to adjust contrast of VC papers in my 8X10 Beseler cold light enlarger with W45 tube. 15 Yellow is my normal. I place the filter on top of...
There may have been two two people using that same name, the first, who made the optical discoveries, and then another, possibly a friend or associate, who constructed the telescope which opened new...

Now seeing your photo. Someone must have put that lens into a recessed board so that it would fold up in a Tecknika. This causes all kinds of difficulties you don't need. Mount on a flat board and...
A 135mm normal focus lens does not require a recessed board. Mount on a flat Technika board with off-center hole. That said, you still have to set the stops and match the cam to the lens. I have...
I looked into these matters when I produced a device I called the Ghostmaster, the patent now in public domain. We speak now of Copal O, because other shutters can be quite different.

Swing and tilt of the back place no demand on covering power and can be used effectively in architecture and interiors.
This is the lensboard you need. I recently bought one from him and it is excellent. I am going to make a monocular viewer out of it with the right lens.

Tin Can, Great minds think alike. Talking Rodagons, I found the 240 to be my most-used enlarging lens, but some printers just have to have the 300. The 300 will mount right up to the same flange if...
I remember at the show in Boston one time in the 1980s a dealer had an 8X10 contact print of the Wright Flyer in the air. He claimed it was made hand-held, which I doubted at the time but perhaps he...
The Sinar P2 front standard is simply raised to the 5X7 or 8X10 position. The bellows attachment at that point is the same as for 4X5. All bellows will be tapered (except for bag).
You are no doubt correct about the mirror hitting the rear element. I never used that 250 or 360 except at medium and close up distances so they might have hit the mirror if focused further away....
I made a lot of pleasing work on a 4X5 Super D. I converted to Graflok back and liked the results on 4X5 with the factory 190 Ektar auto diaphragm lens. But I also had a 4X5 view camera with 250...
