Jock turned out to be a gentle and warm man, and he shared a lot of interesting thoughts:
- the deeper the story behind a photo, the better the photo, even if you don't know the story
- the zone system ruined Adams own photography. he didn't do any great work after creating it. in the 30s and 40s, he was a man in love with the Sierras. later, he became a photographer
- the half-life of a color negative is one year
- the 8x10 camera is much easier to use than the 4x5 because you don't need a lupe

That's an interesting statement about AA, but I'm not sure I agree. I also don't think I can click the shutter on an 8x10 without at least checking the focus with a loupe. It's like focusing an enlarger without a grain magnifier. You can get it close but hardly ever perfect.
He's right on about the story of a photograph. I bet the exhibit was excellent. Thanks for sharing QT.
