TMAX 100 expired Jan 2002

I recently found a "lost" box of TMAX 100 that expired January of 2002. It has been lost in a box that was stored in the attic of an uninsulated garage in Salt Lake City for several years. High temps probably exceded 110* f.

I plan to try a couple of sheets and just see what happens but before I do I would like to know what to expect. Will it be more or less sensitive? What about contrast?

Any recomendations on processing it?

Just try it at the usual EI and development first to see if there are any shifts, then adjust accordingly. Tmax 100 is pretty tough stuff, don't be surprised if the effect of the heat and age are minimal.

I just got hold of an unopened box of Plus X (4x5) from 1993. Seems to work OK.
Got a box of out dated Tmax, but haven't opened it yet. Kodak bw films seem to hold up really well under chronological distress. I was playing around here with a teenee 4x5 camera, a Componon 105 enlarging lens and waaaaaaaay too much glare from the bathroom mirror.

I agree with Gary. The most likely effect will be an increase in base fog and a decrease in film speed but most likely very usable.

It's not a batch that you would want to do a full fledged film evaluation with but it will still be good to use.

In September I ran some tmax 100 that expired in 2001. Shot it at iso 100, processed normally in Xtol, and got great results. I'll shoot the rest this spring.

I'd written it off, almost like free film!
